On our first Valentine’s Day together,http://www.775888.org/775888_com/201503/187.html,http://www.664663.info/www_664663_info/201503/19.html, I planned a three course home-cooked dinner for Mr. S. This was quite the labor of love since my abilities in the kitchen were limited to Cup O’ Noodles and Bagel Bites. (I’m sorry to report that 13 years later, there hasn’t been much improvement in that department.)
My parents went out to dinner for their own Valentine’s Day date,http://www.775888.org/775888_com/201503/186.html,http://www.440442.info/duyingquanweixinshuiluntan/201503/19.html, so it was just the two of us. I had watched one too many soap operas on what constituted a romantic evening at home,www.00166.com,http://www.775888.org/www_775888_com/201503/185.html, covered the entire first floor of our house with candles,http://www.244266.info/244266_com/201503/17.html, and had some light jazz music playing in the background. After we finished eating,www.080678.com, Mr. S invited me to dance in the middle of our living room. Our sickeningly sweet lovefest was interrupted by the sound of something dripping. Turns out my dollar store candles were not meant for long lasting romance, because they were quickly melting onto my parents’ hardwood floors. The rest of our Valentine’s Day date was spent on our hands and knees scraping wax off the floor.
You would think after that little traumatic event I’d think twice about surrounding myself with candles at our wedding. But before they started melting on me, the dollar store candles were amazingly enchanting and intimate (and helped to disguise my butchered pork loin). The candle centerpiece inspirations I found online confirmed my memory of that night. Everything about glowing candle centerpieces fit into my cozy winter wedding vision.

Alas, when we were planning a wedding at reBar, it didn’t seem like we’d be able to work volumes of candles into our decor. The majority of tables at reBar were small two person high tops,香港天下彩报码, and I didn’t want to risk burning our guests’ eyebrows off just to set the mood. But now that we are at The Liberty Warehouse,http://www.221111.info/221111_com/201503/16.html, the opportunities for open flames are abundant,http://www.244266.info/www_244266_info/201503/16.html, and I couldn’t be more excited about all the ways to incorporate potential fire hazards into our big day.
Fireplaces,http://www.704444.info/www_704444_com/201503/18.html. These were a big draw during our venue tour because nothing screams COZY WINTER WEDDING like a wood-burning fireplace. I get giddy at the thought of our guests being welcomed to cocktail hour by a crackling fire or the possibility of a s’mores station.

Pillar candles. In doing my research of decor options at our new venue, I came across collections of pillar candles decorating the seven windowsills surrounding the room. I think the soft glow of these candlescapes will create some nice ambiance and give us the option to skip uplighting around the perimeter of the room.

Tapered candles. I didn’t come across tapered candle centerpieces very often in my Pinterest adventures,本港台现场最快开奖, and I only realize now it might be because many establishments require flames to be enclosed. I guess The Liberty Warehouse likes to live on the wild side because they are one of the few venues that does allow open flames. I intend to take full advantage of this, so we’ve tweaked our plan for the long banquet tables to include some tapered candles.

In addition to giving our reception space the romantic glow I craved, candles have proven to be a cost-effective way to bulk up our centerpiece plan. Our layout at The Liberty Warehouse includes more tables than what we had planned for at reBar, and I feared this would mean increasing the floral budget to decorate the larger space. Adding candles to our centerpieces instead of more flowers has helped to keep the budget in check! #winning
